MPQ70161FS-AEC1

The MPQ70161FS-AEC1 is a power management IC (PMIC) designed to meet the power management requirements of processors used in various safety-relevant automotive systems.

The six integrated, synchronous buck converters can be configured as 3-rail, dual-phase or 6-rail, single-phase converters. With dynamic voltage scaling, the output voltage (V_OUTx, where x = 1~6) of each converter can be changed during normal operation. The PMBus interface provides packet error checking (PEC) and an integrated multi-page one-time programmable (MOTP) memory, which allows for a high degree of configurability.

To prevent overshoot during start-up, soft-start (SS) functionality is featured on each converter. In addition, to allow for proper discharging during shutdown, soft-shutdown functionality is featured on each converter. The slew rate for both functions can be configured via the digital registers.

The MPQ70161FS-AEC1 also features a configurable windowed or Q&A watchdog and dedicated WDI pin, an external voltage monitor, and a sequence output pin. 2MHz fixed frequency peak current mode control regulates V_OUTx, offers fast transient performance, and allows for a large reduction in external inductance and capacitance. Frequency spread spectrum (FSS) reduces EMI noise.

The MPQ70161FS-AEC1 is ASIL-D hardware capable. Built-in self-testing (BIST) is implemented to perform self-diagnostics on critical analog and logic functions. Voltage monitoring is implemented for the output rails, along with critical internal voltage signals. Clock monitoring and thermal monitoring are implemented as well. The safety-related blocks have independent voltage regulators, bandgap, and oscillators. It has been developed under MPS's advanced MPSafe^TM functional safety product development process, which has been independently certified to meet ISO 26262 guidelines.

The MPQ70161FS is available in a TQFN-32 (5mmx5mm) package, and is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
