The MPQ70340FS-AEC1 is a power management IC (PMIC) solution that integrates three high-efficiency step-down DC/DC converters and a low-noise LDO. Unique dual-stage 36V buck architecture maximizes efficiency for the 1.8V image sensor input/output (I/O) rail in the CMOS sensor in high-resolution camera modules.
Constant-on-time (COT) control with a phase-locked loop (PLL) provides a fast transient response time. During forced continuous conduction mode (FCCM), the fixed 2.2MHz switching frequency (fSW) greatly reduces external inductor and capacitor requirements.
The PMBus interface allows for application flexibility. The output voltage (VOUT), power sequence, and protection thresholds can all be adjusted via the PMBus. Fault statuses can also be monitored. Robust fault protections include under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage protection (UVP), and thermal shutdown (TSD). The one-time programmable (OTP) memory is used to set such functions from the factory.
The MPQ70340FS-AEC1 is ISO 26262 ASIL-B hardware capable. Functional safety features include analog built-in self-testing (ABIST), diagnostics, a windowed watchdog timer, and a PG output pin. This PMIC is developed under MPS's advanced MPSafeTM functional safety product development process, which has been independently certified to meet ISO 26262 guidelines.
The MPQ70340FS-AEC1 minimizes external component count, and is available in a space-saving QFN-15 (2.5mmx3.5mm) package with wettable flanks. It is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
