Description

The MPQ70165FS-AEC1 is a power management IC (PMIC) designed to meet the power management requirements of processors used in various safety-relevant automotive systems.

The six integrated, synchronous buck converters can be configured as 3-rail, dual-phase or 6-rail, single-phase converters. With dynamic voltage scaling, the output voltage (V_OUTx, where x = 1 to 6) of each converter can be changed during normal operation. The PMBus interface provides packet error checking (PEC) and an integrated multi-page one-time programmable (MOTP) memory, which allows for a high degree of configurability.

To prevent overshoot during start-up, soft-start (SS) functionality is featured on each converter. In addition, to allow for proper discharging during shutdown, soft-shutdown functionality is featured on each converter. The slew rate for both functions can be configured via the digital registers.

The MPQ70165FS-AEC1 also features a configurable windowed or Q&A watchdog and dedicated WDI pin, an external voltage monitor, and a sequence output pin.

2MHz, fixed-frequency peak current mode control regulates V_OUTx, offers fast transient performance, and allows for a large reduction in external inductance and capacitance. Frequency spread spectrum (FSS) reduces EMI noise. A full protection suite is included and features under-voltage lockout (UVLO), under-voltage protection (UVP), over-voltage protection (OVP), and thermal shutdown.

Safety mechanisms such as built-in self-testing (BIST) provide high diagnostic coverage, which help the system achieve its target ASIL rating. It has been developed under MPS's advanced MPSafe^TM functional safety product development process, which has been independently certified to meet ISO 26262 guidelines.

The MPQ70165FS-AEC1 is available in a TQFN-32 (5mmx5mm) package. It is available in AEC-Q100.

The MPQ70160FS is a power management IC (PMIC) designed to operate from 5V buses to power a variety of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) system-on-chips (SOCs). Six integrated buck converters power a variety of target rails. Constant-frequency peak current mode control offers fast transient performance with stable frequency.

The fixed 2MHz switching frequency (f_SW) during continuous conduction mode (CCM) mode greatly reduces the external inductor and capacitor count. Full protection features include under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), and thermal shutdown.

With the integration of sophisticated functional safety features such as built-in self-testing (BIST) and diagnostics, this ASIL-certified device supports applications with a high automotive safety integrity level up to ASIL D. It is developed under MPS's advanced MPSafe^TM Functional Safety Product Development process, which has been independently certified to meet ISO26262 guidelines.
