Optimized Performance with MPS Inductor

The MPQ4241-AEC1 is a fully integrated solution for USB Type-C ports. The device integrates a buck converter with integrated power switches and a USB power delivery (PD) controller. It achieves 65W of continuous output power (P_OUT) across a wide input voltage (V_IN) supply range, with excellent load and line regulation.

The MPQ4241-AEC1 provides CC over-current protection (OCP) with high accuracy. The USB port is designed for USB Type-C ports, and it is also compatible with legacy USB Type-A ports. The USB Type-C port supports USB PD Revision 3.1 with programmable power supply (PPS) and is backwards compatible with dedicated charging port (DCP) schemes for battery charging specification (BC1.2), 3A divider mode, and 1.2V/1.2V mode without the need for outside user interaction. It supports QC4+ and Huawei fast charge protocol (FCP) modes as well.

The MPQ4241-AEC1 provides a configurable USB power delivery power (PDP) management state machine when the battery voltage (V_BATT) is low, or when an over-temperature condition occurs. When two MPQ4241-AEC1 devices are used in dual PD ports, the internal power sharing logic can intelligently distribute the total power.

Fault condition protections include fixed power delivery object (PDO) OCP, DP/DM/CCx over-voltage protection (OVP), output OVP, and thermal shutdown.

The MPQ4241-AEC1 requires a minimal number of readily available, standard external components. It is available in a QFN-21 (3mmx4mm) package with wettable flanks, and is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
