Description
The MPF52003-AEC2 is a highly integrated, triple-port channel, USB power delivery (PD) controller for sourcing ports. It integrates a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller, 36MHz operating frequency, USB Type-C port controller, and legacy charging protocol management. Firmware update is supported via the CC lines.
The triple-port USB Type-C ports support USB PD revision 3.1 with programmable power supply (PPS), Qualcomm quick charge (QC) 3.0/4.0/4.0+ technology, and backward compatible with dedicated charging port (DCP) schemes for battery charging specification (BC1.2), Apple divider mode, QC3.0, and Huawei fast charge protocol (FCP) mode protocols without requiring outside user interaction.
Power sharing functionality supports dynamic power budget management between the three USB PD ports. PDO capability is reduced when the car battery voltage is low, or the over-temperature (OT) warning is triggered.
Fault condition protections include bus voltage (VBUS) over-voltage protection (OVP), VBUS under-voltage protection (UVP), and thermal shutdown. High-voltage I/O pins support short to VBUS protection.
The MPF52003-AEC2 requires a minimal number of readily available, standard external components, and is available in a QFN-40 (5mmx5mm) package.
