Description
The MPQ6517B is a single-phase, brushless DC (BLDC) motor driver with integrated power MOSFETs and a Hall-effect sensor. The device drives single-phase BLDC motors and fans with an output current (IOUT) limit up to 2A. The 3.3V to 16V input voltage (VIN) range and input line reverse-voltage protection (RVP) mean that an external diode is not required on the supply line.
The MPQ6517B controls the rotational speed through the pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal on the PWM pin. The MPQ6517B has a rotational speed detection feature and rotor lock fault indication on the FG/RD pin, with an open-drain output. The output speed vs. input duty cycle curve can be configured for flexibility. To reduce the fan driver’s audible noise and power loss, the MPQ6517B features a soft on/off phase commutation and an automatic phase-lock function for the motor winding back electromotive force (BEMF) and current.
Full protection features include input over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage lockout (UVLO), rotor deadlock protection, thermal shutdown, and input RVP.
The MPQ6517B requires a minimal number of external components to reduce solution cost, and it is AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified. The MPQ6517B is available in TSOT23-6-SL and TSOT23-6 packages.
