The MPQ76401FS-AEC1 is an LED matrix manager with 16 integrated switches in series, enabling individual LED pixel control in dynamic adaptive lighting applications. The device provides a highly integrated solution for large arrays of high-power LEDs within automotive headlights.

It integrates four sub-strings of four series-connected switches for bypassing individual LEDs to realize multiple current sources. Its UART interface supports a communication baud rate up to 2Mbps, allowing for high-density data payload transfer via an external microcontroller.

The internal charge pump powers the LED bypass switch gate drivers. To minimize EMI, frequency spread spectrum is available on the 16MHz oscillator used for the charge pump.

Low on resistance (R_DS(ON)) MOSFETs minimize conduction loss and power dissipation. The MOSFET turn-on and turn-off times are configurable for each individual LED in the string. The pulse-width modulation (PWM) frequency (f_PWM) and duty cycles are adjustable using the internal registers via the UART interface.

Internal one-time programmable (OTP) memory can store default system settings, as well as calibration and lighting module data. For all switches, an integrated 8-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) monitors the LED voltage (V_LED), current, and junction temperature (T_J), and logs the data to the internal registers. These diagnostics can be read back with a microcontroller (MCU) via the UART interface. The ADC also samples dedicated inputs (ADC1/ADC2) for system temperature compensation (NTC) and LED binning.

The MPQ76401FS-AEC1 features LED open/short protection, thermal shutdown protection, and reporting registers via the UART interface.

The MPQ76401FS-AEC1 is available in a TQFP-48 (7mmx7mm) package with an exposed cooling pad to yield great power dissipation and thermal performance. It is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
