Description

The MPQ7210-AEC1 is a synchronous, dual-buck LED driver designed to operate as a constant current source to drive two independent LED channels. Each channel can support up to 2A of output current (I_OUT), and they can also be connected in parallel to support up to 4A of current.

The 4.5V to 60V input voltage (V_IN) range allows a string of up to 12 LEDs to be connected in series per channel. When paired with a matrix manager, the MPQ7210-AEC1 can achieve an ideal architecture to drive adaptive driving beams or matrix headlights.

The safety protection suite includes a fault (/FS) pin used to report over-current protection (OCP), under-voltage lockout (UVLO), early thermal warning, and thermal shutdown. These features can be used to assist the system in meeting functional safety requirements.

An integrated 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) monitors V_IN, the output voltage (V_OUT), VCC voltage (V_CC), and junction temperature (T_J), and logs the data into the internal registers. These diagnostics can be read back by a microcontroller (MCU) through the serial peripheral interface (SPI). The SPI can also be used to preset dimming profiles within the registers and mask undesired signals on the fault (/FS) pin.

The MPQ7210-AEC1 minimizes the need for a number of external components and is available in a QFN-26 (5mmx5mm) package. It is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
