Description

The MPQ7232-AEC1 is a synchronous, step-down, constant-current, infrared (IR) LED driver. It features a compact solution that achieves up to 6A of peak LED current (I_LED). An ideal configuration is to drive one or two IR LEDs. Peak LED current control mode provides fast transient response and eases loop stabilization.

The device supports a 10Hz to 2kHz pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming frequency range. It is compatible with IR LED applications that require 30fps, 60fps, or 120fps dimming. The MPQ7232-AEC1 also supports analog dimming. It applies a DC voltage between 0.2V and 1.6V on the ADIM pin to linearly adjust the internal LED current reference voltage (V_REF) from 25mV to 200mV. Frequency spread spectrum (FSS) modulation improves EMC performance.

Full protection features include LED short-to-GND protection, LED open protection, thermal shutdown (TSD), and a dedicated fault pin.

The MPQ7232-AEC1 requires a minimal number of readily available, standard external components. It is available in a space-saving QFN-15 (3mmx4mm) package, and is AEC-Q100 qualified.
