The MPQ7270-AEC1 is an asynchronous boost regulator optimized to drive up to 4A of current for a string of LEDs in series. The low 0.2V regulation feedback (FB) voltage (V_FB) with ±5% error across the full temperature range offers high accuracy for automotive lighting applications.

The device regulates the output voltage (V_OUT) up to 40V with up to 95% efficiency. Current mode regulation and external compensation components allow the MPQ7270-AEC1's control loop to be optimized across a wide variety of input voltages (V_IN). The configurable fixed switching frequency (f_SW) optimizes EMI.

The MPQ7270-AEC1 supports analog and pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming on the same pin. A <2kHz input dimming frequency activates PWM dimming, and a >5kHz input dimming frequency activates analog dimming.

Protection features include output over-voltage protection (OVP), output under-voltage protection (UVP), output over-current protection (OCP), LED open/short protection, FB short-to-ground protection, and thermal shutdown. Soft start (SS) prevents external circuitry from being damaged or overstressed during start-up.

The MPQ7270-AEC1 is available in a TSOT23-8 package, and is AEC-Q100 qualified.
