Description

The MPQ7250-AEC1 is a 3-channel, high-side (HS), linear LED driver, ideal for driving LED strings directly from an automotive battery. It outputs a best-in-class 200mA of LED current (I_LEDx) per channel with a unique thermal management design to reduce board temperature. External shunt resistors are leveraged to share output current (I_OUT) and dissipate power out of the driver.

Optimized for compact lighting applications, each channel has a dedicated pulse-width modluation (PWM) dimming input pin to support brightness control. Either a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) resistor for LED temperature monitoring or an LED brightness binning resistor can be connected on the same board or off the board.

Advanced diagnostics and fault protection features include LED open protection, LED short protection, single LED short (SLS) protection, and thermal shutdown. The device can be configured to operate in one-fails-all-fail or one-fails-others-on mode, and can indicate any of these fault conditions through its fault indicator output pin.

The MPQ7250-AEC1 requires a minimal number of external components, and is available in a compact QFN-20 (4mmx4mm) package. It is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
