Description
The MPQ58200-AEC1 is a 32-channel, high-side (HS) switch for VCSEL applications. It is designed to pre-charge the input capacitors of VCSEL diodes. By working with a proper low-side (LS) FET, the device provides a compact and flexible solution for LiDAR applications.
The device integrates an open-loop boost converter, and its duty cycle is controlled by an external pulse-width modulation (PWM) waveform. When the boost converter's LS FET is on, the inductor current increases; when the LS FET is off, the inductor current charges the output capacitor of one channel, which is selectable via the SEL pins. In this way, the energy delivered to each output can be adjusted by changing the width of the PWM signal. This process also helps to compensate for the inconsistency of the parasitic inductance related to the VCSEL diode's discharging loop. Therefore, the VCSEL diode distributes currents among various channels, allowing it to achieve the same pulse value.
The MPQ58200-AEC1 integrates thorough protection features to ensure that the device can protect itself and detect various fault conditions, including input over-voltage protection (OVP) and under-voltage lockout (UVLO), output OVP, and over-current protection (OCP) for the boost converter.
The MPQ58200-AEC1 is available in a WLCSP-45 (2.5mmx4.5mm) package.
