Description

The MPC22164-130 is a 2-phase, non-isolated, high-efficiency step-down power module. It integrates the driver MOSFETs (DrMOS) and inductors to provide high efficiency and a small footprint, which is ideal for server applications.

The MPC22164-130 has two independent outputs, which can be used separately or in parallel. It can achieve up to 130A (65A/phase) of output current (I_OUTx) across a wide input voltage (V_IN) range.

The MPC22164-130 offers many features to simplify system design. The device works with tri-state pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal controllers, has Accu-Sense^TM current sensing to monitor the inductor current (I_L), and has temperature sensing to report the junction temperature (T_J).

The MPC22164-130 is available in an LGA-72 (9mmx9.9mmx10mm) package.

The EVMPC22164-2891-Split-02A is an evaluation board designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the MPC22164-130, a 130A, 2-phase Intelli-Module with Quiet Switcher^TM Technology.

The evaluation board can deliver up to 130A of load current across a wide operating input voltage (V_IN) range, and it can achieve high efficiency across a wide output current (I_OUT) load range.

The evaluation board employs one MP2891 device and two MPC22164-130 devices. The MP2018-33, a low-power linear regulator, is also integrated because it provides a stable 3.3V power supply for the MP2981 and MPC22164-130. There are two power supply rails that can run independently.

The EVMPC22164-2891-Split-02A can monitor the MPC22164-130’s V_IN, output voltage (V_OUT), I_OUT, and temperature. The EVMPC22164-2891-Split-02A provides configurable V_IN under-voltage lockout (UVLO) protection, V_OUT over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage protection (UVP), over-current limiting (OCL), and over-current protection (OCP).
