Description
The HFC0650 is a highly integrated, quasi-resonant (QR) flyback controller that is suitable for high-performance and high-frequency designs. Different from conventional QR flyback controllers, the frequency foldback in the HFC0650 can guarantee high efficiency across the entire load range. It internally clamps the maximum GATE voltage (VGATE) for direct e-mode GaN FET driving.
The HFC0650 is a secondary-side regulation (SSR) based primary controller, which needs to work with secondary-side feedback circuitry. The higher frequency shrinks the passive component size and achieves higher power density. The device integrates high-voltage start-up and X-capacitor discharger circuits, as well as an ultra-low quiescent current (IQ) in burst mode. This allows the no-load power consumption to be less than 30mW.
The device adopts a patented valley lock technique to restrain the valley jumping from one to other during steady-state operation, which helps eliminate audible noise. The wide VCC voltage (VCC) range makes the HFC0650 suitable for applications that require a wide output voltage (VOUT) range without any additional auxiliary winding.
It features advanced protections, including primary-sense output over-voltage protection (ZCD OVP), primary-sense output under-voltage protection (ZCD UVP), VCC OVP, output overload protection (OLP), internal brown-in/brownout (BI/BO), short-circuit protection (SCP), current-sensing open and short protection (CSOP and CSSP, respectively), internal over-temperature protection (OTP), external OTP (EOTP) and under-voltage lockout (UVLO).
The HFC0650 is available in an SOIC8-7A package.
