The MPQ3368-AEC1 is a step-up controller with 8-channel current sources. The device is designed to drive white LED (WLED) arrays as backlighting for middle- or small-sized LCD panels. The device uses peak-current mode as its pulse-width modulation (PWM) control architecture to regulate the boost converter. Eight channel current sources are applied into the LED cathode to adjust LED brightness.

The MPQ3368-AEC1 regulates the current in each LED string to the value set by an external current-setting resistor, with 2.5% current regulation accuracy between strings. The MPQ3368-AEC1 employs a strong gate driver signal for the external MOSFET with a selected rising/falling time. It has a standard I²C digital interface for easy use. The switching frequency (f_SW) can be configured via a resistor, the I²C interface, or an external clock.

A low headroom voltage is provided to improve efficiency and IC thermal performance. The MPQ3368-AEC1 provides analog, PWM, and mixed dimming modes through the PWM input or internal registers. The dimming mode can be selected via the I²C interface. The device also has a phase-shift function to reduce inrush current and eliminate audible noise during PWM dimming.

Rich protections are designed to guarantee safe device operation. Protection features include over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), over-temperature protection (OTP), VOUT-to-GND short protection, LEDx-to-GND short protection, and LED short and open protection. The LED current (I_LEDx) also decreases automatically by detecting the NTC pin.

The MPQ3368-AEC1 is available in a QFN-24 (4mmx4mm) package, and is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
