Fully Differential, Magnetic Digital Angle Sensor with Stray-Field Immunity

Description

The MA900B is a contactless, precision magnetic absolute angle position sensor. The angle is extracted from the magnetic field difference at several sensing locations on the IC. This differential method eliminates the effect of parasitic magnetic fields and is suitable for sensors positioned at the end-of-shaft with a simple dipole target magnet. Fast data acquisition and processing provide accurate angle measurements up to very high speeds (e.g. lag < 1° at 100,000rpm).

The MA900B features magnetic field strength detection with configurable thresholds to allow sensing of the magnet position relative to the sensor for certain functions such as sensing the axial movements, or for diagnostics.

On-chip non-volatile memory (NVM) provides storage for configuration parameters, including the reference zero angle position, ABZ encoder settings, configuration of UVW pole pair emulation, and magnetic field detection thresholds.

The MA900B is available in a QFN-16 (3mmx3mm) package with wettable flanks.
