Traction Inverter System
Traction Inverter System Content
Description
An engine roaring is becoming a sound of the past, as the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) continues to grow at an exponential rate. Soon the only sound will be the whirring an EV motor as the traction inverter delivers power from the battery. Traction inverters are instrumental in converting energy from the high-voltage battery (400V/800V) into three-phase AC energy to drive the vehicle’s motors. Traction inverters are typically composed of six single-channel isolated gate drivers, with advanced protection features to ensure proper operation. These systems are designed for 20kW to 400kW applications, and can provide instant torque to the motors for both plug-in hybrids fully electric vehicles.
MPS’s large portfolio of isolated solutions includes isolated gate drivers, isolated gate driver power supplies, digital isolators, Hall-effect current sensors, and non-isolated DC/DC converters. These components can be used to bias and drive both SiC and IGBTs, as well as provide high power density by integrating transformers into a chip-scale package. Our solutions are designed to meet the strictest high-power specifications by employing capacitive isolation for high CMTI and magnetic noise immunity.
MPS’s robust isolated solutions provide everything you need to power the next generation of traction inverters.
