Description

The MPQ2177 is a monolithic, step-down, switch-mode converter with built-in internal power MOSFETs. It achieves 1A of continuous output current (I_OUT) across a 2.5V to 5.5V input voltage (V_IN) range, with excellent load and line regulation. The output voltage (V_OUT) can be regulated to as low as 0.6V.

The constant-on-time (COT) control scheme provides fast transient response and eases loop stabilization. Fault protections include cycle-by-cycle current limiting and thermal shutdown. The MPQ2177 is ideal for a wide range of applications, including automotive infotainment systems, clusters, and telematics.

The MPQ2177 requires a minimal number of readily available, standard external components, and is available in an ultra-small QFN-8 (1.5mmx2mm) package.

The EVQ2177-QH-00A is an evaluation board designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the MPQ2177GQHE-AEC1, a monolithic, step-down switch-mode converter with built-in internal power MOSFETs. The MPQ2177-AEC1 achieves up to 1A of output current (I_OUT) from a 2.5V to 6V input voltage (V_IN) range, with excellent load and line regulation. The output voltage (V_OUT) can be regulated to as low as 0.6V. A 100% maximum duty cycle can be reached in low-dropout (LDO) mode.

Constant-on-time (COT) control offers a simpler control loop and faster transient response. By using V_IN feed-forward, the MPQ2177-AEC1 maintains a nearly constant switching frequency (f_SW) across the input and load ranges. Forced continuous conduction mode (FCCM) provides a stable frequency and a lower output ripple.

An open-drain power good (PG) signal indicates nominal voltage after the soft-start time (t_SS) elapses. Once the feedback (FB) voltage (V_FB) reaches 90% of the reference voltage (V_REF), PG is pulled high. Once V_FB drops to 85% of V_REF, PG is pulled to GND.

Full protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limiting, short-circuit protection (SCP), reliable over-voltage protection (OVP), and auto-recovery thermal protection.

The EVQ2177-QH-00A is a fully assembled and tested evaluation board. The MPQ2177-AEC1 is available in a QFN-8 (1.5mmx2mm) package, and it is available in AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
