This use case examines the application of the MP5611, a triple-output AMOLED display power supply, in smartwatch screens.

The MP5611’s triple outputs (AVDD, ELVDD, and ELVSS) can be used to achieve stable power delivery to smartwatch screens by increasing the available load power and load current, controlling for redundant power supplies, and distributing the thermal load.

In the rising trend of wearable technology, smartwatches are becoming an integral part of daily life as a smartphone extension and health tracker. A high-resolution display is important for smartwatch screens considering the smaller AMOLED screen and varying lighting conditions that can impact visibility. Designers are looking for a solution that can provide voltage regulation across the multiple power supplies of smartwatches to optimize AMOLED display performance while maintaining power efficiency.

The MP5611’s triple outputs (AVDD, ELVDD, and ELVSS) can be used to achieve stable power delivery to smartwatch screens by increasing the available load power and load current, controlling for redundant power supplies, and distributing the thermal load. In addition, the MP5611 provides synchronous rectification with low on resistance (RDS(ON)), decreasing power consumption as well as the external component count. It is available in a TQFN-16 (3mmx3mm) package.
