The MPS engineering team is working on an emergency ventilator inspired by the open-source MIT design to aid in the fight against COVID-19. The design uses integrated power management hardware to run the system independent of lab power supplies if there is a loss in the main power input. The ventilator DC/DC power modules boost the voltage from the power source to the motor controls. The ventilator boost controller and the ventilator power modules provide the necessary voltage required to quickly automate what is normally a manual process of squeezing a bag valve mask (BVM) resuscitator.
