The EVXG2100-2B-G44100-1A-00B evaluation board is designed to demonstrate the performance of the MPXG2100-2B and the MPG44100-1A. It comes in a small form factor with high power density. The evaluation board’s electrical specifications are well-suited for cell phone and notebook adapters. It provides very low no-load power consumption (<85mW), and its high overall efficiency meets DOE Level VI and CoC Tier 2 standards. It can also meet IEC 61000-3-2 Class-D harmonics current limits.
The MPXG2100 series is part of the NovoOne family, which are all-in-one flyback regulators with an integrated primary GaN-compliant driving circuit and GaN HEMT, a secondary controller, a secondary ideal diode, and safety-compliant feedback. This family offers the benefits of both primary-side regulation (PSR) and secondary-side regulation (SSR). By adopting capacitive isolation technology, the optocoupler used to communicate between the primary and secondary side can be saved.
The NovoOne family achieves adaptive zero-voltage switching (ZVS) in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) using patented synchronous rectifier (SR) FET control. The SR can match the primary-side driving signal, meaning the SR can operate safely in continuous conduction mode (CCM) with low-line AC input, which reduces the required capacitance for the input bulk capacitor to further increase power density.
The NovoOne family is specially designed to work with PFC controllers. In addition, the peak power function allows smaller transformers/input bulk capacitors to be used compared to conventional QR and ZVS control.
The MPG44100 is a quasi-resonant, critical conduction mode (CrM)/discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) multi-mode power-factor correction (PFC) regulator with integrated GaN FET. It provides simple, high-performance active PFC using minimal external components. The MPG44100 also integrates current-sensing and eliminates external current-sense resistors to guarantee higher efficiency.
The EVXG2100-2B-G44100-1A-00B evaluation board provides a reference design for a universal, offline, isolated power supply with a 28V/5A output.
