Industry Sessions

Presentation: Adding Value in the Battery Management System Design
    Speaker: Miguel Angel Sanchez
    Date: November 11, 2026, 10:00 - 10:25 AM CET
    Stage: electronica Stage, Hall A5
As battery-powered applications continue to grow, a basic battery management system is no longer enough to meet evolving safety requirements and user expectations. In this presentation, we will explore how MPS addresses both. The MPS portfolio of analog front ends, active balancers, and fuel gauges ensures a high level of safety while providing exceptional performance and user-level information to help comply with ISO, UL, and Battery Passport requirements, among others.
Presentation: From 48V Power Domains to Zonal Architectures : Enabling the Next Generation of Automotive Power Distribution
    Speaker: Shivani Saravanan
    Date: November 11, 2026, 14:20-14:45 PM CET
Stage: Semiconductor Innovation Stage, Hall C6-241
The automotive industry is increasingly adopting 48V power domains to reduce copper losses, support high power loads and improve overall system efficiency. At the same time, the move toward zonal architectures is redefining how power is distributed throughout the vehicle, creating new requirements for efficiency, integration, thermal performance and fault protection. This presentation focuses on how 48V systems and zonal architectures is reshaping automotive power design with a spotlight on MPS' Hybrid buck topology for the 48V to 12V conversion stage to deliver high power density, superior efficiency and enhanced thermal performance.
Presentation: Active Thermal Balancing for Multiphase Buck Converters in Data Center Applications
    Speaker: Albert Arnau
    Date: November 12, 2026, 13:10-13:40 PM CET
Stage: Semiconductor Innovation Stage, Hall C6-241
In recent years, AI GPU and ASIC power consumption has been rapidly growing, forcing designers to increase the number of phases in buck converter PoL (Point of Load). With more phases, the thermal gap between them becomes harder to control due to tradeoffs in thermal design. Consequently, one or more phases may reach their thermal limit limiting full potential. To address this limitation, MPS introduces Active Thermal Balance (ATB), which enables communication between the power stages and dynamically adjusts the current of individual power stages, equalizing their junction temperatures without external sensing or redesigning of the thermal spreader.

Panel

Panel: Battery Management in the Era of AI and the Battery Passport
    Date: November 11, 2026, 12:00 - 12:30 PM CET
    Stage: electronica Stage, Hall A5
How can the latest battery management technologies help to ensure compliance with battery passport requirements? How can next-generation battery chemistries (like Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt NMC, Lithium Iron Phosphate LFP, Sodium-ion, Solid-state) optimize energy efficiency, performance, and at the same time battery reliability and safety by detecting critical conditions such as thermal runaway in a timely manner – even for very large energy storage systems (BESS)? And what role can artificial intelligence play in this?
At the Power & Battery Panel, hosted by Markt&Technik as part of the electronica trade show, experts from component and system suppliers, led by chief reporter Engelbert Hopf, will discuss current requirements for battery management and ways to address them.
