Description

The MP8500 is a dual-channel, high-current intelligent rectifier with an integrated, low on resistance (R_DS(ON)) MOSFET that is optimized for LLC and full-bridge converters.

With its built-in, low R_DS(ON) MOSFET, the MP8500 can deliver up to 40A of continuous current per device at room temperature. With air flow, the continuous current can reach 50A.

The MP8500 offers many features to simplify system design. The MP8500 works with MPS's LLC controllers, and comes with accurate current sensing to monitor the current flowing through the synchronous rectifier (SR). It also offers temperature sensing to report the junction temperature (T_J).

The MP8500 supports operation in MOSFET-only mode or synchronous rectification mode. It also supports partial operation skipping if multiple MP8500s are in a parallel circuit, which makes the application more flexible.

The highly integrated MOSFET and gate driver offer fast turn-on/turn-off times to achieve high power density and high efficiency.

The MP8500 requires a minimal number of external components, and is available in an FCLGA-39L (5mmx5mm) package.
