Motor Commutation Angle Sensor with UVW Multi-Pole Pair Emulation

The MagAlpha MA102 magnetic sensor is an all-in-one solution designed to replace Hall switches for commutation in brushless DC motors and to provide absolute angle position. Absolute position is provided in the form of an 8-bit direct digital angle on the SPI interface. 12-bit resolution UVW commutation signals are provided with emulation for 1 to 8 pole pair rotors.

The MA102 detects the absolute angular position of a permanent magnet, typically a diametrically magnetized cylinder on a rotating shaft. Fast data acquisition and processing provide accurate angle measurement at speeds from 0 to 60,000 rpm.

The MA102 supports a wide range of magnetic field strengths and spatial configurations. Both end-of-shaft and off-axis (side-shaft mounting) configurations are supported.

12-Bit, Digital, Contactless Angle Sensor with ABZ & UVW Incremental Outputs

The MA302 detects the absolute angular position of a permanent magnet, typically a diametrically magnetized cylinder on a rotating shaft. Fast data acquisition and processing provide accurate angle measurement at speeds from 0 to 60,000 rpm.

The MA302 supports a wide range of magnetic field strengths and spatial configurations. Both end-of-shaft and off-axis (side-shaft mounting) configurations are supported.

The MA302 features magnetic field strength detection with programmable thresholds to allow sensing of the magnet position relative to the sensor for creation of functions such as sensing of axial movements or for diagnostics.

On-chip non-volatile memory provides storage for configuration parameters, including the reference zero angle position, ABZ encoder settings, UVW pole pair emulation settings, and magnetic field detection thresholds.

12-Bit, Digital, Contactless Angle Sensor with ABZ Incremental & PWM Outputs

The MA702 detects the absolute angular position of a permanent magnet, typically a diametrically magnetized cylinder on a rotating shaft. Fast data acquisition and processing provide accurate angle measurement at speeds from 0 to 60,000 rpm.

The MA702 supports a wide range of magnetic field strengths and spatial configurations. Both end-of-shaft and off-axis (side-shaft mounting) configurations are supported.

The MA702 features magnetic field strength detection with programmable thresholds to allow sensing of the magnet position relative to the sensor for creation of functions such as the sensing of axial movements or for diagnostics.

On-chip non-volatile memory provides storage for configuration parameters, including the reference zero angle position, ABZ encoder settings, and magnetic field detection thresholds.

8-Bit, Contactless, Angle Encoder with PWM Output and Push Button Function

The MagAlpha MA850 is a simple-to-use magnetic angle encoder designed to replace analog potentiometers or rotary switches. The sensor detects the absolute angular position of a permanent magnet attached to a rotating shaft and outputs a PWM waveform with 8-bit resolution. The user has wide flexibility in terms of magnet shapes and configurations. Typically, the MA850 is used with a diametrically magnetized cylinder of 3mm to 8mm in diameter. The MA850 features programmable magnetic field strength thresholds which allow implementation of a push or pull button function. When triggered, these are readable as register bits and also output as two logic signals. On-chip non-volatile memory provides storage for configuration parameters including the reference zero angle position and the magnetic field detection threshold settings.

Test Board for the MagAlpha

The TBMA is a test board for the MagAlpha magnetic position sensor family. The TBMA allows users to run and test the MagAlpha sensor quickly. TBMA boards exist in two different formats: round (RD) and long (LT). In the RD format, the sensor is mounted in an end-of-shaft configuration. In the LT format, the sensor is mounted on the edge of the board and can therefore be used in both side-shaft and end-of-shaft configurations.

The TBMA is compatible with the Macom kit, offering seamless connection and operation of the MagAlpha and allowing users to evaluate MagAlpha functionalities and performances with their own set-up.

Contrary to the EVMA, the TBMA only includes the assembled board with the sensor and decoupling capacitors. It does not include connectors.
