The EVBL2166-D-00A is an evaluation board designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the MP2166 and MPQ2166,and is optimized for MPS's MPL-AY4020 series of power inductors. The MP2166 and MPQ2166 are dual PWM step-down regulators with internal compensation. The devices operate from a 2.7V to 6V input voltage (VIN) range, and can generate an output voltage (VOUT) as low as 0.6V. The MP2166 and MPQ2166 can be configured for a 2A/2A or 3A/1A output current (IOUT), and their low 60μA quiescent current (IQ) makes them ideal for portable equipment that runs on a single-cell lithium-ion battery.
The devices integrate dual, 55mΩ high-side MOSFETs (HS-FETs) and 20mΩ synchronous rectifiers (SRs) for high efficiency without an external Schottky diode. The MP2166 and MPQ2166 have peak current mode control as well as internal compensation, and are capable of low-dropout configurations. Both channels can operate at 100% duty cycle.
Full protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limiting and thermal shutdown. The MP2166 and MPQ2166 are available in QFN-18 (2mmx3mm) or QFN-18 (2.5mmx3.5mm) packages.
