Bipolar Stepper Motor Drivers with Internal Current Sense Replaces Traditional Solutions
The MP6500 and MP6600 are bipolar stepper motor driver ICs. The MP6500 offers 2.5A peak output current and is available in in QFN-24 (5mmx5mm) and TSSOP-28EP packages. The MP6600 offers all of the same features and up to 1.5A of output current in a small QFN-24 (4mmx4mm) package. Beyond the standard integrated indexer logic and two PWM current-regulated H-bridge drivers, these parts provide unique features, better performance, and a lower cost than competitors.
- Single supply voltage from 4.5V to 35V
- Doesn’t require external low-side sense resistors
- Internal winding current regulation allows the current to be monitored at all times, providing more accurate current regulation and eliminating the need to tune the decay mode
- Even when the motor speed varies, the current remains in control and minimizes the current ripple, reducing noise and vibration
