Description
The MP8792 is a fully integrated, high-frequency, synchronous buck converter. It offers a compact solution that can achieve up to 12A of output current (IOUT) across a wide input voltage (VIN) supply range with excellent load and line regulation. The MP8792 operates at a high efficiency across the IOUT load range.
The MP8792 adopts internally compensated constant-on-time (COT) control to provide fast transient response and ease loop stabilization. The switching frequency (fSW) can be set to 600kHz, 800kHz, or 1000kHz by configuring the MODE pin, which allows the frequency to remain constant regardless of VIN or the output voltage (VOUT).
The VOUT start-up ramp is controlled by an internal timer (1ms), which can be increased by adding a capacitor to the TRK/REF pin. An open-drain power good (PG) signal indicates whether the output is within its nominal voltage range. If the input supply fails to power the MP8792, then the PGOOD pin is clamped to about 0.7V via an external pull-up voltage.
Fully integrated protection features include over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage protection (UVP), and over-temperature protection (OTP). The MP8792 requires a minimal number of readily available, standard external components, and is available in a QFN-21 (3mmx4mm) package.
