The MP2770 is a highly integrated, flexible switch-mode battery charge management and system power path management device. It is designed for single-cell Li-ion and Li-Polymer batteries, and it can be used in a wide range of portable applications.
The device has an integrated IN to SYS pass-through path to pass the input voltage (VIN) to the system, even when charging is disabled. When input power is present, the device operates in charge mode. The device automatically detects the battery voltage (VBATT) and charges the battery in three phases: pre-charge, constant current (CC) charge, and constant voltage (CV) charge.
With the integrated input current limit and VIN regulation function, the MP2770 manages the input power to meet the priority of the system power demand. In the absence of an input source, the MP2770 can switch to boost mode to power the IN or SYS pin from the battery.
The IC can flexibly configure the charging and boosting parameters, such as the VIN clamp, input current limit, charging current, charge full voltage, boost output voltage, and current limit, among others.
Safety features include output short-circuit protection (SCP), input over-voltage protection (OVP), battery under-voltage protection (UVP), thermal shutdown, and battery temperature monitoring, among others.
The MP2770 is available in a QFN-18 (3mmx4mm) package.
