MPSafe™ Solutions

MPSafe™ Solutions

MPSafe™ products are engineered with a system-oriented approach. We consider not only how a device itself may handle various safety cases, but how the system can be better engineered to achieve its safety goals. This results in better safety coverage, more thorough documentation, pre-approved third party safety analysis, and a cost and schedule-optimized solution.

Meet Our Rigorous ISO26262-Compliant Functional Safety Product Development Process

MPSafe™ is MPS’s new automotive functional safety product development process. This portfolio of solutions is AEC-Q100 qualified and ISO26262 compliant, and the MPSafe™ process is certified by independent experts. MPSafe™ products are engineered to address many of the common challenges our customers face when developing safety-oriented solutions.

MPSafe™ ASIL-D, 2.7V to 5.5V, Quad 3A, Synchronous Buck Converters and Dual LDOs with I2C Interface, AEC-Q100

The MPQ74202FS-AEC1 is a complete power management solution that integrates high-efficiency, high-frequency, quad-output, synchronous buck converters and two low-dropout (LDO) regulators with a flexible logic interface.

The MPQ74202FS-AEC1 offers a highly integrated solution that delivers up to 3A of continuous output current (IOUT) per channel, with excellent load and line regulation across a wide input voltage (VIN) supply range. The MPQ74202FS-AEC1’s four bucks can work in parallel to provide 6A or 12A of IOUT. In addition, buck 1 supports external DrMOS operation to supply up to 50A of IOUT.

The MPQ74202FS-AEC1 uses adaptive constant-on-time (COT) control to provide ultra-fast load transient response. Full protection features include under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-voltage protection (OVP), over-current protection (OCP), and thermal shutdown.

The MPQ74202FS-AEC1 integrates multi-page one-time programmable (MOTP) memory, which supports up to four user-configurable pages. The output voltage (VOUT), switching frequency (fSW), current limit (ILIM), power sequence, and many other parameters are selectable via the one-time programmable (OTP) memory or I2C, providing excellent system flexibility.

MPSafe™ 6-Channel ASIL-D Voltage Monitor, AEC-Q100 Qualified

The MPQ79500FS is a 6-channel voltage monitor engineered for automotive safety applications. Each voltage monitor input has a configurable over-voltage (OV) and under-voltage (UV) threshold to achieve high accuracy for both high-frequency (HF) and low-frequency (LF) voltage monitoring.

Two of the inputs are differential remote voltage-sense input pairs. Low-power mode (LPM) can be selected for an extremely low quiescent current (IQ). The MPQ79500FS can record power-sequencing timestamps and orders. It also has a sync I/O function, which can be used for multi-device sequence synchronization and tagging. The device is accessible through the I2C interface.

With the integration of sophisticated functional safety features such as a built-in self-testing (BIST), and diagnostic and write protection, this ASIL-certified device supports applications with a high automotive safety integrity level up to ASIL-D. It is developed under MPS’ advanced MPSafe™ Functional Safety Product Development process, which has been independently certified to meet ISO26262 guidelines.

The MPQ79500FS is available in a QFN-16 (3mmx3mm) package with wettable flanks, and is AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified.

MPSafe™ 12-Channel ASIL-D Power Sequencer, AEC-Q100 Qualified

The MPQ79700FS is a 12-channel functional safety power sequencer designed for automotive advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving platforms, which provide the essential controls and sequencing for the entire platform.

The device’s configurability and flexibility enable design reuse across different applications and system-on-chip (SoC) generations.

The MPQ79700FS contains a crystal driver, as well as a real-time clock (RTC) with an alarm function. The device also contains a configurable watchdog, which is accessible via the I2C interface, along with active-low system reset and interrupt outputs.

Integrated safety mechanisms such as the built-in self-test (BIST) provide high diagnostic coverage, which allows the system to achieve the target ASIL rating. It is developed under MPS’ advanced MPSafe™ Functional Safety Product Development process, which has been independently certified to meet ISO26262 guidelines.

The MPQ79700FS is available in a QFN-24 (4mmx4mm) package with wettable flanks, and is AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified.

MPSafe™ 21V, 3W, 4-Rail PMIC with 3 Bucks and 1 LDO for Functional Safety Automotive ADAS Camera Modules, AEC-Q100 Qualified

The MPQ70240FS is a complete power management solution that integrates three high-efficiency step-down DC/DC converters and a low-noise low-dropout (LDO) regulator and flexible logic interface. Its unique architecture with two first-stage buck converters redefines the size, efficiency, and EMI of high-resolution camera modules.

Constant-on-time control (COT) with phase-locked loop (PLL) provides fast transient response and a stable frequency. A 2.2MHz fixed switching frequency (fSW) during continuous conduction mode (CCM) greatly reduces the required external inductance and capacitance. Full protection features include under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), and thermal shutdown. The output voltage (VOUT) is adjustable via the PMBus or preset via the multi-page one-time programmable (MOTP) memory. The start-up sequence is also configurable via the OTP or the PMBus. The PMBus can be used to monitor the fault status.

MPSafe™ ASIL D, 6.5V, PMIC with 6 Buck Converters with Dual 4A, Dual 3A, and Dual 1A for Automotive ADAS, AEC-Q100 Qualified

The MPQ70160FS is a power management IC (PMIC) designed to operate from 5V buses to power a variety of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) system-on-chips (SOCs). Six integrated buck converters power a variety of target rails. Constant-frequency peak current mode control offers fast transient performance with stable frequency.

The fixed 2MHz switching frequency (fSW) during continuous conduction mode (CCM) mode greatly reduces the external inductor and capacitor count. Full protection features include under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), and thermal shutdown.

With the integration of sophisticated functional safety features such as built-in self-testing (BIST) and diagnostics, this ASIL-certified device supports applications with a high automotive safety integrity level up to ASIL D. It is developed under MPS's advanced MPSafe™ Functional Safety Product Development process, which has been independently certified to meet ISO26262 guidelines.
