Description
The MPQ70336FS-AEC1 is an ASIL-D hardware capable power management IC (PMIC) featuring a buck converter and an integrated, 4-channel voltage monitor. It is engineered for automotive safety applications that require an off-battery safety power supply and additional voltage rails monitored for safety.
The MPQ70336FS-AEC1 features a synchronous, step-down switching regulator that provides up to 4A of peak output current (IOUT) with peak current mode control. The configurable switching frequency (fSW) ranges between 350kHz and 2.5MHz.
High power conversion efficiency across a wide load range is achieved by scaling down fSW under light-load conditions to reduce the switching and gate driving losses. Frequency foldback helps prevent inductor current (IL) runaway during start-up. Thermal shutdown provides fault-tolerant operation.
Each of the four voltage monitor inputs has configurable over-voltage (OV) and under-voltage (UV) thresholds. Highly accurate high-frequency (HF) and low-frequency (LF) voltage monitoring can detect when the voltage thresholds are reached. Two of the inputs are differential, making them optimal for remote voltage-sensing to monitor rails with high current levels.
The MPQ70336FS-AEC1 can record the order in which voltage rails are sequenced, as well as their associated timestamps. The device is accessible through an I2C interface.
With the integration of sophisticated functional safety features including built-in self-testing (BIST), diagnostics, and write protection, this device is targeted to support applications with a high automotive safety integrity level up to ASIL-D.
The MPQ70336FS-AEC1 is available in a TQFN-25 (3mmx6mm) package with wettable flanks.
