The MPF42791 is an advanced battery fuel gauge drop-in solution that provides accurate and robust internal state-of-charge (SoC) estimates for batteries with 2 to 16 stacked lithium cells. Typical cell voltages range between 3.6V and 4.2V, with nominal battery pack voltages ranging between 7.2V and 57.6V, and a maximum range between 8.4V and 67.2V.
The device supports a wide variety of lithium cell chemistries with distinct properties. Despite the complex fuel gauge algorithm , the MPF42791 is simple to use and only requires a few basic configurations. Additionally, advanced configurations allow for fine-tuning to meet desgin needs that may be specific to an application.
The MPF42791 is very flexible, and can be paired with any type of analog front end (AFE) by leveraging the system’s microcontroller (MCU) to provide the battery pack readings. The MPF42791 features an I2C interface with CRC support to ensure integrity of the exchanged data. It is available in a TQFN-32 (4mmx4mm) package.
