Product Description

The MagAlpha MA820 is a simple-to-use magnetic angle encoder designed to replace analogic potentiometers or rotary switches. The sensor detects the absolute angular position of a permanent magnet attached to a rotating shaft and outputs incremental ABZ encoder data. The number of pulses per-channel for each A or B output is programmable from 1 to 64 via an SPI interface. The user has wide flexibility in terms of magnet shapes and configurations. Typically, the MA820 is used with a diametrically magnetized cylinder of 3mm to 8 mm in diameter. The MA820 features programmable magnetic field strength thresholds which allow implementation of a push or pull button function. These are output as two logic signals. On-chip non-volatile memory provides storage for configuration parameters including the reference zero angle position, the ABZ interface pulses per channel and the magnetic field detection threshold settings.

The TBMA is a test board for the MagAlpha magnetic position sensor family. The TBMA allows users to run and test the MagAlpha sensor quickly. TBMA boards exist in two different formats: round (RD) and long (LT). In the RD format, the sensor is mounted in an end-of-shaft configuration. In the LT format, the sensor is mounted on the edge of the board and can therefore be used in both side-shaft and end-of-shaft configurations.

The TBMA is compatible with the Macom kit, offering seamless connection and operation of the MagAlpha and allowing users to evaluate MagAlpha functionalities and performances with their own set-up.

Contrary to the EVMA, the TBMA only includes the assembled board with the sensor and decoupling capacitors. It does not include connectors.
