Environment: Creating Eco-Efficiency Through Technology
Our power solutions offer customers efficiency and simple system integration. Our power solutions can contribute to environmental sustainability when used in products like electric vehicle components, commercial building environmental controls, industrial smart sensors and artificial intelligence applications. Our product design philosophy aligns with our customers’ mandate to continuously improve the power efficiencies, hence reduce the carbon footprint at each generation of new products. Our innovative designs ultimately set our products apart from other similar offerings in the power solutions industry. The following are a few examples:
  • Computer servers utilizing our technology use lower levels of energy, resulting in reduced heat generation, translating to less power required to cool the data center.
  • Our power management solutions for high-end notebook computers deliver higher efficiency, reducing energy consumption, and in turn extending both the battery and product life.
  • Our white LED controllers and drivers are utilized in energy-efficient LED lighting solutions in home, commercial, industrial and automotive applications.
Environmental Management
Respect for the Environment is an integral part of our Code of Social Responsibility. We focus on minimizing any potential impact to natural resources and protecting the environment by proactively reviewing any risks that might arise and taking immediate action. We have policies and procedures in place to ensure that potentially harmful chemicals or hazardous materials are safely handled, used and disposed of or recycled. We maintain and update data on the prohibition or restriction of specific substances as required by various oversight organizations. Further, our products are shipped in compliance with European RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) legislation and exclude banned substances such as BFRs, PVC, phthalates, beryllium, arsenic and antimony. We are ISO14001 certified and we require this certification from our key manufacturing suppliers as well.
Energy Management
We are committed to energy efficiency and increasing the use of clean energy at our operations. For example at our largest U.S.-based facility, in San Jose, California:
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Understanding the global implications of climate change, in 2017 we began tracking our greenhouse gas emissions and submitting annual Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) reports for our largest facility, located in Chengdu, China.

The work of CDP is crucial to the success of global business in the 21st century... helping persuade companies throughout the world to measure, manage, disclose and ultimately reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. No other organization is gathering this type of corporate climate change data and providing it to the marketplace.

Ban Ki-moon, Former Secretary General, United Nations

From 2017 to 2019, production volume at our Chengdu facility increased by 27%. During this same period, Scope 1 GHG emissions produced at this location through onsite boilers, air conditioning units and our fleet of vehicles declined slightly while Scope 2 emissions from our use of purchased electricity increased only 15%.
